Richard Paul Lohse (1902-1988) was a Swiss artist and a key figure in concrete art and constructivism. Initially self-taught, his work evolved into a rigorous system of grids and color combinations based on mathematical and logical principles. His compositions are not the result of intuition, but of a scientific analysis of color and form. Lohse participated in numerous international exhibitions, including documenta 2 in Kassel (1959). His most famous works include “Seven Systematic Color Units with Seven Linear Modulations” and “Systematic Group Formation”.
