Giulio Paolini was born in Genova on 5 november 1940, he was close to the Arte Povera movement in the early 60’s but he will move on his own way, a more conceptual idea of art. The work of Paolini is all based on the relationship between space and time, on a fragmented language and on the duality concept.
His first solo show is at the La Salita gallery in Rome and from that moment on, his career will start to be under the highlights. In 1980 he has a solo exhibition at the Stedelijk museum in Amsterdam, in 1989 at the  Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome and at the Castello di Rivoli in 2020.
Giulio Paolini participated ten times to the Venice Biennale and four times to the Documenta in Kassel. He lives and works in Turin where he also manage the Fondazione Giulio ed Anna Paolini that documents the work of the artist.
