  • <strong>Giorgio Griffa</strong> was born in Turin in 1936, the city where he still lives and works today. Turin has served as the fertile ground for the genesis of one of the most coherent and revolutionary paths in contemporary Italian art. An undisputed leader of the <strong>Pittura Analitica</strong> movement (also known as <em>Pittura-Pittura</em>), Griffa has redefined the concept of the pictorial surface, liberating it from the constraints of representation and narrative to restore it to its purest essence: color, sign, and support. Griffa’s artistic development took place within the vibrant cultural climate of 1960s Turin, a period deeply marked by the <em>Arte Povera</em> movement.
