- Nicola De Maria born in Foglianise in 1954 is a prominent figure of the Italian Transavanguardia, although his artistic language is distinguished by a more dreamlike and spiritual expressiveness. His work focuses on painting but often evolves into environmental installations where color, sign, and space merge. In his works, geometric and abstract elements combine with symbols that evoke the cosmos and mysticism, creating pictorial universes full of energy and poetry. His artistic research, which extends to sculpture and decoration, has been celebrated internationally. De Maria has participated in prestigious events such as the Venice Biennale (1980 and 1990) and documenta in Kassel (1982).
