Mario Ceroli was born in 1938 in Castelfrentano in Italy and in 1958 he won the prize for the young sculpture at the national gallery of modern art in Roma (Galleria Nazionale).
Ceroli is a pioneer of the Art Povera movement because before of anyone elses started working on natural material as wood, rags and glass. In the 60’s is one of the greatest artists of Italian and European pop art, ne exhibited in Museum of Art in Fukuyama, at the Frankfurter Kunstverein and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He creates wooden human shapes that he repeats and that become the most important part of him artistic production.
Artworks as Ultima Cena, Uomo di Leonardo or Cassa Sistina are historically recognized as masterpiece of Mario Ceroli. His artworks are in important modern art museums and international collections.
