  • Hsiao Chin was a Chinese artist and a key figure in Italy's avant-garde movement. Born in Shanghai in 1935, he moved to Taipei, Taiwan, before settling in Madrid in 1956 and then in Milan in 1959. There, he founded the Punto art movement. His works, which range from painting to sculpture, combine elements of Taoist and Buddhist philosophy with Western abstraction, exploring the interaction between matter and spirit, cosmos, and nature. He exhibited in numerous international venues, including the Venice Biennale and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

His works are featured in the permanent collections of prestigious museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei. After a long and prolific career, he passed away in Italy in 2023.
