- Born in Cholet in 1926 François Morellet , by 1950 at the start of his artistic career François Morellet was more and abstract painter than a geometrical one. That year Morellet had his first exhibition at the Galerie Creuze in Paris. In the 50’s François Morellet wanted to configure the picture field as an infinite structure trying to go beyond the borders of the picture itself. Morellet joined “GRAV” (‘Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel’: 1960-1968), a group of Kinetic artists who explored the possibilities of the visual arts in a scientific and experimental way.
