- Emilio Scanavino was born in Genoa in 1922, studied at the Nicolò Barabino Art School and at the age of twenty he already organized his first solo exhibition at the Salone Romano in Genoa. In 1942 he enrolled in the faculty of architecture at the University of Milan which he attended until 1943 when he was called up to arms. The post-war period was full of trips to Paris, the home of contemporary art in those years: there he came into contact with post-cubism and the subsequent abstractionist tendencies.
