Giulia Napoleone, born in Pescara in 1936, began her artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the Sala Studio of the National Engraving Museum. Her professional teaching career began in 1966 at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in Anagni, later continuing in Rome. She also taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in L'Aquila (1972-1973), at the National Engraving Museum (1973-1976), and finally at the Art School in Rome in 1976.
She began her artistic practice as an engraver in 1962; the following year, she held her first solo exhibition at the Galleria Numero in Florence. Over the years, he has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including the Biennials of Graphic Art in Florence and Biella (1974), the Rome Quadrennial (1986 and 1999), and the Cairo Triennial of Graphic Art. His solo exhibitions include a retrospective at the Musée des Beaux-Arts du Locle in Switzerland, featuring etchings created between 1983 and 1993; a survey of previously unpublished pastels and watercolors presented in Florence in 1996 and re-presented in 2002 with oil works; and a large retrospective curated by the Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica in 2017.
During his career, he has received numerous national and international awards. He currently lives and works in Rome.
