An artwork from our gallery on loan to the Vittoriano museum in Rome

We are pleased to announce that we have contributed a work to the exhibition “Le ferrovie d’Italia (1861–2025). Dall’unità nazionale alle sfide del futuro” currently underway at the Vittoriano Museum in Rome, part of the VIVE (Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia) museum complex. The work by Mario Schifano, displayed next to Giorgio De Chirico’s “Piazza d’Italia,” is an enamel on emulsion canvas from 1977. In the background, a steam train races past, seemingly trying to escape the frame.

The canvas, previously featured in the gallery exhibition “Michelangelo Pistoletto / Mario Schifano. Preistoria delle nuove immagini” will be on display at the Vittoriano until January 11, 2026. This is a major institutional exhibition celebrating the 120th anniversary of the Italian State Railways. The exhibition features works by Boccioni, De Chirico, De Nittis, Kounellis Mattiacci, Pascali, Paolini, and other important artists of the late twentieth century.

We thank the museum’s director and curator Edith Gabrielli, Ferrovie dello Stato, and the curatorial team, including Professor Lorenzo Canova, for selecting the work for this important exhibition project. The exhibition’s book, published by Silvana Editoriale, will be released soon.
